I finished the first season. It's very good. I'm looking forward to watching the 2nd season once it finishes airing. I'll probably get around to reading the light novels too sometime.

@moth_ball @kaia I just think of somebody like this

@DaveyDelimbo I wouldn't quite say that. History is always being revised and cannot always be trusted either. Just be aware of how people wish to create narratives and manufacture their own truths, or hide inconvenient ones. That is something that will not change as what happens now just becomes history.

The writing in Mushoku Tensei is somewhat predictable, but none the less refreshing. If I think in my mind "This is how this situation should play out" it seems to happen that way. I suppose I'm just in tune with the author's thoughts.

Whenever somebody says they liked [Recently released Hollywood movie] do not believe them. At best they are indoctrinated and their brains give off dopamine like Pavlov's dogs salivate. At worst they are paid shills and their entire presence is to covertly support narratives and sell products.

Oh, Konosuba as well.

@ew I would almost consider that a fault then. I enjoy the perversion even if I do not personally get aroused by it.

@KomeijiKoishi "No need" works just as well

In Japan the people making the best fiction seem to be unabashed perverts. Made in Abyss and Mushoku Tensei show that well enough. To a slightly less extent with Overlord.

That is to say they are still trying to bring out the romance of something, even if it is in a perverted manner. Stories like Spice and Wolf still have that element of romance but in a more traditional and subdued form.

Many great creators in the past had this kind of mindset.

@AR-15 Who was it?

I tried tutoring before, but I could only find asians and mulattoes who wanted their kids taught. I might put up and ad saying I'll do it for free as long as they're white.

@Curvin @Xeraser Yeah anything that normies use too much becomes incredibly annoying. It's bad if it's something you like, but it becomes an irrational hate if you already had a tendency to dislike it but are forced to keep seeing it again and again

@Xeraser @Curvin Something being overused can do that. I used to hate this song because it was used way too fucking much. It's probably why you dislike Undertale too. It's like somebody keep saying "You have to try this food it's SO good." when you already know you don't like it very much.

@InceptionState @thor @Jackuu @MischievousTomato @graf @posrev @realcaseyrollins @verita84 Information is just as valuable as time. Not just the time it takes to learn something, but a person's capacity to learn and hold that information in their brain.

It's like going down a tech tree in a game. If you're already invested in one kind of technology path it's easy to research the adjacent ones.
For somebody who invested in a totally different path, it would take a huge investment to reach that level though.

@sickburnbro Within 10 years it's going to be illegal to display the American Flag, or any historical versions of it.

@ew I'm implying my tastes may differ from yours. My favourite other LNs are Overlord and Spice and Wolf, if that gives you any context.

@ew For you.

@ew You gave me no context. It's like throwing a book at somebody's face. It's also not very good manners to say "This is better!"

@tsugumi The anime, it looks beautiful. I'll probably check those other versions out later

I wish I could teach some kids. Not in a school and read them lines from a textbook but actual teaching. Of course the best would be a child of my own, but that is easier said than done.
