Every internet webpage is a tool to manipulate your mental state. Start using them for your own gain and not your own suffering. It requires a lot of self-reflection but you should be able to see when going to certain sites boosts your mood or harms it.

And when they become older it gets funneled into things like matchmaking and gossiping or keeping tabs on neighbors.

Since Christmas Youtube has been manipulating live view counts. This prevents many people from being counted as real viewers
