@Samhydeigger @PrettyHateMachine The Oera Linda Book is probably the closest example, if it's historically accurate. Basically they had everything written on the walls of citadels around the city for everybody to see. Only one family wrote them down and copied them over the years, keeping it secret out of the hands of priests.
