One advantage videogames will almost always have is maintaining neuroplasticity. Asking somebody to play a new game with unusual controls or mechanics and have it grasped or even mastered means your brain can readily adapt to change.
Of course this doesn't always apply if somebody only plays one game and just does the same thing over and over. But as long as they have a mild curiosity for new games and have to rearrange their manner of thinking it will be very beneficial.
