All the people making "right click" jokes really do not understand NFTs.
With any NFT that has actual functionality you cannot just right click it. Image NFTs are pretty worthless, but there are many other kinds.

@cirnog Those are the ones that people are paying money for, in the same way that art ends up getting sold for millions of dollars. It's mostly money laundering and scamming.

I'm still mostly just interested in NFTs and tokens being used with video games, because there are actually products that do it successfully right now like Axie Infinity and Gods Unchained.

@cirnog The biggest reasons are to facilitate trade between players, as well as paying people to keep PVP alive.
I'm really looking forward to this for a fighting game. They end up having extremely small player counts, and having people earn money by playing ensures there is always a large pool of people.
Both Axie Infinity and Gods Unchained are primarily PVP games with tradable cards/units.

@cirnog Axie Infinity is the largest NFT project by many metrics. According to a player count site there is 110,989 people playing right now. That would put it in the top 5 player counts in terms of Steam games.

@cirnog Yeah it's a pretty simplistic game, and most people are just playing on mobile.
It just goes to show how many people want to earn money playing games. I think the majority of players are in 3rd world countries and they earn about $8 per day playing.
