How do those who use the term know that Late Stage Capitalism is in its late stages? Mightn't there be more?

This is a disturbing thought

That’s why the “late” and “stage” are there in the first place. (“Capitalism”, too, if you want to recklessly take the analysis all the way.)

Strictly speaking capitalism is just an economic system in which private actors own and control property in accord with their interests, and demand and supply freely set prices in markets in a way that can serve the best interests of society.

Calling out system of social organisation capitalism is a crime against the language. Marxists theorised this but everything about Marxism has been disproven.

What we are in is post-liberalism. the theory that communism would follow liberalism has been disproven by history. That was obvious from the Russian experience in the early 20's, but James Burnham eviscerated the notion in his book The Managerial Revolution in 1940.

What happened to the disturbing thought?

The general feeling on Poast is that we are in the early stages of collapse and we just need to wait it out.

Truth is that we are not. This system will become more and more dystopian over time, but it will not collapse any time soon left to its own devices.

It will get more and more worse as time goes on unless radical reform is undertaken

Collapsatarianism is based on Christian Dispensationalist thought. In the same vein people who promote it should try and find the shire to live with hobbits.

It is just an excuse to do nothing

As bad as things are it’s still entirely possible for people to find online and irl communities with their buddies, find a wife, and live a fairly comfortable life within the system. LARPing as someone who’s creating a lifeboat community is a great way of rationalising being in the safe boat as everyone.

It’s a really weird place to be in psychologically where you hold views and beliefs that should get you hung and fired but you’re living a normal dude life. Gotta square that circle somehow
